One week ago I happened to stumble upon a stack of old school Viviendo Beans Stickers. I naturally began thinking of what I could do with them since I prefer timeline continuity of my work out there on the streets. So then, I decided on a free sticker pack mailing and I proceeded to advertise the event on social media. Granted I do this all the time but never on a vintage item. The response was too much to handle and less than 8 hours later I was out of […]
A brand new collection is now brewing at the studio entitled Devaluado (Devalued). This one is a 27 piece set mostly in large formats with a collage mix media background on wood. These backgrounds are made with a collage technique using Honduras Lempira bills with aerosol and acrylic paint on top. I will be lining them up with brush and black enamel paint. The narrative behind the Devaluado Collection revolves around my immigrant experience and those parallels tied up in the current child migrant crisis.
Because I have been focusing so much on my documentary movie project about my recent travels to Honduras I have been unable to keep you up to date… For that I apologize. Anyway, back in June 2015 the Beans were able to reach Las Vegas with great success. I received tons of social media hits which only fuels me to continue giving. One of my favorite parts of the trip was that I discovered the street art pulse of Las Vegas and made a few contacts… I look forward to […]
The Free Beans project has arrived in full force as a set of 24 to Venice Beach, California. I decided to entitle the expedition as Light My Fire as a tribute to Jim Morrison and The Doors. Venice Beach presented itself to me in all its glory on friday May 29, 2015. It was a perfect 70 degrees and sunny day with a packed boardwalk filled with both tourist and locals alike. I connected to the abstract vibe within seconds and I knew I was experiencing creative energy of high […]
There is something to be said about working with success in mind. In the past six months I have reinvented my strategy to creating collections with the intent to exhibit them in various venues locally and beyond. Step 1 was to close my gallery space in Leucadia in order to focus on production. Step 2 was to produce, produce and produce some more without stressing if the collections were not being exhibited soon after they are completed. With step 1 checked off and following step 2 with all my energy […]
It seemed as if the Catracholandia project would not include the Beans Run mostly because my brother was immensely busy with his newly extended family and the construction of his first home. The disappointment I felt at the time was not allowing me to enjoy the massive success the expedition had yielded. After all, What is a home without Beans? Its not really clear how, (and Cesar will give the credit to God), but we were able to multi task by running errands, purchasing and receiving construction materials while still […]
